Spiritual Direction for Clergy on the Gulf Coast

Pastoral Excellence Project offers Katrina Zone Ministers safe space to lament, pray, rejoice

Ordained Mississippi clergy can receive twelve once-a-month sessions with a trained spiritual director beginning in August, 2010.   The Pastoral Excellence Project offers this ministry at no charge to participants with funding from the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

What is Spiritual Direction?

Different from the problem-solving focus of therapy, counseling, or coaching, spiritual direction assists you to sense the movements and callings of God in your life.  In one-hour sessions with a listener specially trained to hear your story, you can experience:

• Complete confidentiality

• prayer and other spiritual practices

• acceptance of  your faith tradition, values, theology, and spiritual experiences

• silence for listening to God

Who can participate?

Spiritual Direction for Clergy on the Gulf Coast is open to the ordained of any faith tradition or denomination who

• serve in Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, George, Stone, or Pearl River  counties
• seek to explore their relationship with God
• commit to attending all twelve sessions of spiritual direction.
