"The JOY of Preaching!"
with Dr. Michael Pasquarello
Granger E. and Anna A. Fisher Professor of Preaching
Asbury Theological Seminary
and Irene Brownlee, worship leader
Crossgates United Methodist Church, Brandon, MS
Pastors and congregations describe the sermons they deliver and hear each week in many ways—from inspiring to boring, from thoughtful to clichéd, from easily understood to confusing. How often is preaching found to be joyful—for both preacher and listener? What can a preacher do to increase his or her delight in the practice of this sacred calling?
Pursue these questions with Dr. Michael Pasquarello of the Asbury Theological Seminary faculty at the Mississippi Conference Pastors’ School, September 13-15, 2010 at Crossgates United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS. He will lead us in reflecting on our identity as preachers, focusing on the following themes:
- The Enjoyment of God: Prayer, Praise, and Proclamation
- Homiletic Happiness: Loving as God Loves
- Delighting in the Word: Participating in Scripture
- The Joy of Preaching: Speaking as a Means of Grace
Registration Information (2 meals and snacks included with fee):
