Continuing Education Unit Approval

Request Approval for CEU's

Center for Ministry and Mississippi Annual Conference (and related district) continuing education events are pre-approved and credited automatically on Mississippi United Methodist Clergy CEU records in People Portal. Your personal People Portal can be accessed on the Mississippi United Methodist Church Conference website.

To request credit for attending outside continuing education events, please download and complete this CEU Approval Application and email Paige Swaim-Presley at the Center for Ministry at least three weeks before registering for the event.

If you are a Resident in Ministry in the Mississippi Annual Conference seeking approval for your out-of-context continuing education experience, please download, complete and return this form.

Transcripts for Clergy

The Center for Ministry maintains continuing education records of Continuing Education events sponsored by the Center for Ministry and All Mississippi Annual Conference United Methodist clergy.  You may find and print your transcript by
checking your personal People Portal.  CEU's are located under the Trainings section.  If you feel there are missing CEU events, please email the Center for Ministry.  Approved CEU's are posted within 2 weeks of submission.  You may find information about submitted CEU's by selecting the event, and reviewing the information found in Messages.
Mississippi Annual Conference clergy transcripts only record continuing education units from events that have been approved for credit by the Center for Ministry.  Events planned by the Center for Ministry and Mississippi Annual Conference (or related district) are pre-approved and are credited when attendance is submitted. To request approval and transcript recording for other events, please complete one of the following forms and email to the director of the Center for Ministry.

CEU Requirements for All UM Clergy

All clergy in full-time appointments (deacons, elders, associate members, and full-time local pastors who have completed their educational requirements) are required to earn an average of two (2) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) each calendar year or a minimum of eight (8) over the course of a quadrennium (Methodist for “four-year period”). Part-time local pastors who have completed their educational requirements are expected to earn one (1) CEU per year or four (4) per quadrennium. Clergy enrolled in college, seminary, or graduate school are not required to earn additional credit while they are students.
